DONGOLA, Ill. -- Robert E. "Bob" Peterson, 74, of Dongola died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, at his home.

He was born Aug. 25, 1926, son of Hobart and Jewell McKenzie Peterson. He and Ola Houseman were married Dec. 5, 1948, in Marion, Ill. She died March 19, 1995. He and Bettie Boyd Bales were married March 27, 1996.

Peterson was a serviceman with Southern Illinois Electric Co-op 43 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-46.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Tom Peterson of Dongola; a sister, Hope Manninger of Crockett, Texas; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three stepchildren.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna after 4 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Travis Peterson and Paul Sadler officiating. Burial will be in Dongola American Legion Cemetery.
