Robert Lee Penrod, 84, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Sept. 12, 1932, in Cape Girardeau County to Manning Lee and Wanda Young Penrod.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Bob attended Grace United Methodist Church.

He designed and built many houses and businesses in the Cape Girardeau/Jackson area, as well as in the state of Mississippi in later years. In his earlier years, he built a 55-foot yacht in Cape Girardeau and later sailed it in the Fort Lauderdale, Florida, area for more than five years.

Two great passions in life for Bob were playing golf and traveling.

Survivors include a daughter, Vickie Koenig of Jackson; two sons, Terry Penrod of Monroe City, Missouri, and Donald Penrod of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Wanda Wagner of Tennessee and Jan Allen of Cape Girardeau; a brother, William Penrod of Jackson; a stepsister, Betty Hoffmeister of Jackson; five grandsons. Terry "T.K." Koenig Jr., David Penrod, Joel Penrod, Brian Penrod and Keegan Allen; three granddaughters, Jessica Simmons, Morgan Allen and Kacy Wagner; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Malone "Pete" Penrod; and a sister, Mary Noblitt.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at noon Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Stan Hargis officiating.

Burial will be at McLain Chapel Cemetery near Oriole.

Memorial contributions may be given to Southeast Hospice.
