THEBES, Ill. -- Robert Lee Orick, 81, of Thebes died Friday, May 24, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born Aug. 28, 1931, in Gale, Ill., to Oscar Joseph and Annie Rebecca Dodson Orick.
He and Ramona "Ruth" Holshouser were married Dec. 18, 1954, in Cairo, Ill. She passed away March 2, 2009.
Robert was owner and operator of Bob's Excavating & Trucking in Thebes for more than 50 years. He was a deputy with the Alexander County Sheriff's Department and marshal for the Village of Thebes.
Survivors include a daughter, Tammy (Trea) Hill of Thebes, and a grandson, Clayton Hill of Columbia, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers, Lloyd "Jack" Orick and Paul Earl "Hoover" Orick and two sisters, Nellie Mae Sullivan and Ella Louise Jennings.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Jimmie Monahan officiating. Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery in McClure, Ill.
