Robert "Bob" S. Murakami, 75, of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2021, at Southeast Hospital.

He was born June 7, 1945, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to the late Ryojiro and Yaeme Nada Murakami.

Bob attended Campster School, graduated from University High and obtained a bachelor of science in mathematics from Southeast Missouri State University.

He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army. He was head of the maintenance department at Nucor-Yamato Steel Company in Blytheville, Arkansas, for over 25 years.

Bob was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was very active and would always lend a helpful hand in his neighborhood. His pride and joy were his children and grandchildren, and he loved spending time with them.

He and Christine Fraser were married Nov. 8, 1967.

Bob was a member of Last Days Ministries.

Loving survivors include his wife of 53 years, Christine Murakami of Cape Girardeau; sons, Daniel (Dawn) Murakami of Scott City, Greg Murakami of Cape Girardeau and Doug (Laura) Murakami of Altenburg; daughter, Tara (David) Patterson of Cape Girardeau; sister, Betty Baird of Kansas City, Missouri; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Mike (Rhonda) Fraser of Sedgewickville, Missouri, and John Fraser of Commerce, Missouri.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roy R. Murakami; and sisters, Bernice Sugiki and Ruby Harrison.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21 at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home, with Terry McKee officiating. Full military honors will also be performed.

There will be a meal following the service at Mount Auburn Christian Church.
