BENTON -- Robert B. Mothershead, 40, of Benton died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at his home. He was born Oct. 30, 1959, at Sikeston, son of Hoyt and Betty Zook Mothershead. BENTON -- Robert B. Mothershead, 40, of Benton died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at his home.

He was born Oct. 30, 1959, at Sikeston, son of Hoyt and Betty Zook Mothershead. He and Christy Dodson were married April 2, 1980, at Blodgett.

Mothershead was a 1978 graduate and salutatorian of Thomas W. Kelly High School and a 1981 magna cum laude graduate of Southeast Missouri State University.

He operated his own certified public accounting firm in Benton and was a self-employed farmer. He was a T-ball and basketball coach.

Mothershead served as president of Benton Chamber of Commerce, SEMO Chapter of Missouri Society of CPAs and Scott City Swim Team. He was a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and past member of Kelso C-7 School Board.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Daniel and Andrew Mothershead of the home; his parents of Benton; a brother, Russ A. Mothershead and wife, Kim, their children, Russ Allen, Clay, Katie and Julie of Benton; aunts, Anna Zook Jones of Grand Prairie, Texas, Alma Mothershead Bechtold of Sikeston; an uncle, Merlin Mothershead and wife Linda of Scott City; and numerous cousins.

Friends may visit the family at Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Benton from 4-8 p.m. Friday.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The committal will be in Forest Hills Cemetery with Brother Ed Carter officiating.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to American Brain Tumor Association.
