Funeral for Robert Miskell Jr. of Cape Girardeau will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. John "Jack" Ketcher will officiate. Private graveside service will be at Oakdale Cemetery in Commerce, Mo., with military rites by Missouri Military Funeral Honors.
Friends may call at the chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.
Miskell, 77, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Oct. 5, 1923, at Boonville, Mo., son of Robert Emmett and Sally Philadelphia Sanders Miskell. He and Juanita Bryant were married June 3, 1944, in Arkansas.
Miskell was a diesel engineer on the river with Southern Towing Co. of Memphis, Tenn. He was a Golden Eagle sponsor in the National Rifle Association.
He served in the U.S. Navy from Feb. 9, 1943, to Dec. 7, 1945.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, John Miskell of Jackson, Mo., David Miskell of Atoka, Tenn.; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and a sister.
