Robert L. Mehrle, 78, of High Hill, Mo., died Monday, Nov. 14, 2005, at New Florence Nursing and Care Center in New Florence, Mo.
He was born April 6, 1927, in Cape Girardeau, son of Rudolph and Eursa Kinder Mehrle. He and Geraldine Franck were married July 21, 1946, in Cape Girardeau.
He farmed most of his life. He moved to Sikeston, Mo., and then to the High Hill area in 1987. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jonesburg, Mo., and a member of VFW Post 4436 in Montgomery City, Mo.
Mehrle served in the U.S. Army from May 23, 1946, to Nov. 3, 1947.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Larry Mehrle of Winfield, Mo., Jerry Mehrle of Wentzville, Mo., Richard Mehrle of St. Charles, Mo., Kenneth Mehrle of Jonesburg; two daughters, Martha Long of Mount Vernon, Mary Mehrle of Jonesburg; a sister, Georgia James of Cape Girardeau; 20 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons.
The funeral was held Thursday at Harding Funeral Home in Jonesburg. Burial was in Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in St. Louis with full military rites.
