Robert W. "Capt. Bob" McEwing, 79, 1009 Dearmore, died Saturday, May 25, 1996, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Feb. 22, 1917, at Chaffee, son of Benjamin and Elizabeth Hart McEwing. He and Mary Ann Ferriell were married Oct. 28, 1950, in Cape Girardeau.
McEwing was a riverboat captain with Inland Oil Co. 40 years, retiring in 1995.
He moved to Cape Girardeau from Scott City five years ago, and was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, and a sister, Benita McEwing of Cape Girardeau.
He was preceded in death by a brother, sister, a half brother and two half sisters.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 5-8 p.m. today. The parish rosary will be at 7.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Cathedral. Msgr. Richard Rolwing and the Rev. Rick Jones will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
