ROBERT MCDOWELL

PERRYVILLE -- Robert McDowell, 96, of Perryville, died Thursday, April 26, 1994, at Perry County Nursing Home.

He was born Dec. 30, 1897, in Perry County, son of James William McDowell and Mary E. Young McDowell.

He was married April 29, 1919, in Silver Lake, Mo., to Mary M. Layton. She preceded him in death April 23, 1990.

He was a retired farmer.

He is survived by two sons, Arthur L. McDowell and Carl J. McDowell, both of Perryville; three daughters, Mary Ann Taylor, Monica M. Gibbar and Christine R. Hahn, all of Perryville; one brother, Henry McDowell of Fredericktown; 20 grandchildren, and 36 great grandchildren, and eight great, great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, 15 brothers and sisters, and two grandchildren,

Service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church at Silver Lake, with the Rev. Charles Rice officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Miller Family Funeral home in Perryville. A wake service will be held at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Sunday.
