JONESBORO, Ill. -- Robert Mayberry, 77, of Jonesboro died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, at his home.
He was born April 1, 1921, at Jonesboro, son of William J. and Bertha Hinkle Mayberry. He and Vida Lucille Creecy were married on July 6, 1940. She died Oct. 11, 1986. He and Gracie Curtis were married on Sept. 24, 1987, at Logan.
Mayberry was a veteran of World War II.
He worked as a timber buyer.
He was a member of Valley Mission Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include his wife; his mother; a son, Bobby Mayberry of Jonesboro; four daughters, Sharon Kay Turner of Buncombe, Sue Emerson of Cleveland, Tenn., Barbara Ann Charles of Dongola and Margaret Shelton of Jonesboro; four brothers, Albert "A.P." Mayberry, David Mayberry and Floyd Mayberry, all of Jonesboro, and Raymond Mayberry of Valdosta, Ga.; three sisters, Mildred Wright and Geraldine McLane, both of Jonesboro, and Helen Keesee of Scott City, Mo.; two stepsons, Dennis Savat of McClure and Terry Savat of Benton, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Karen Penny of Jackson, Mo.; and six step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two grandchildren.
Funeral was Thursday in the chapel of Hileman and Parr Funeral Services. The Revs. Herbert Wilson and D.W. Cobb officiated, with burial in the Valley Mission Cemetery. Military rites were conducted at the graveside by the Carroll P. Foster 3455 Anna VFW.
