Robert Lee Martin, 50, 220 S. Ellis, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 1997, at his home.
He was born Feb. 24, 1947, in Cairo, Ill., son of William and Georgia Bankhead Irons. He and Rose Edwards were married March 9, 1985, in Cape Girardeau.
Martin had lived in Cape Girardeau since 1982. He had been a custodian at L.J. Schultz School since 1985. He was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Cairo.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert Kyles of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Carolyn and Vida Kyles of Cairo; two stepsons, Lawrence Edwards and Jimmy Walker of Missouri; a stepdaughter, Alma Edwards of Kansas City.
Also surviving are three brothers, Willie Martin of Cincinnati, Ohio, Herschel Martin and Chester Harris of Chicago; six sisters, Pauline Johnson, Renee Baines, Viola Harris and Carolyn Simmons of Chicago, Annie Baines and Marilyn Martin of Milwaukee, Wis.; and 14 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 4-8 p.m. Saturday.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with the Rev. Johnny Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
