Robert John "Bob" Kirchner, 86, of Friedheim died peacefully Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, in St. Louis.
He was born March 31, 1924, in Eddyville, Ky., son of Lawrence and Lena Bauer Kirchner. He and Ann Macke were married Sept. 17, 1949. She preceded him in death in 2007.
Survivors include 10 sons and three daughters, Michael of Albuquerque, N.M., Patrick of Louisville, Ky., Larry of St. Charles, Mo., Jerry of Colorado Springs, Colo., Tom, Margie Hufnagel and Rita House of St. Louis, Robert of Cape Girardeau, Mary Anne Erwin and Chris of St. Louis, Paul of Dayton, Ohio, Andy of Jackson, David of St. Louis; a sister, Regina Klimaszewski of Nashville, Ill.; a brother, Herman Kirchner of Plant City, Fla.; 24 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents; three brothers, Bernard, Eugene and Edward Kirchner; and a sister, Genevieve Kettmann.
Kirchner was a farmer, devoted husband and father. He was an ardent supporter of praying the rosary, the message of Fatima, feeding the hungry, life for the unborn and African missions. He was a member of St. Maurus Catholic Church at Biehle, Mo.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville, Mo. Parish prayers will be at 6 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Maurus Church, with the Rev. Tony Datillo officiating. Burial will be in St. Maurus Cemetery.
Lunch will be provided in the parish hall.
The family prefers memorials to charity.
