ALTENBURG, Mo. -- Robert W. Hecht, 73, of Altenburg passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at his home.
He was born March 28, 1940, in Altenburg, son of Benjamin C. and Olga Pilz Hecht. He and Charlotte Saupe were married May 11, 1963. She preceded him in death April 9, 2013.
Hecht was owner/operator of Altenburg Machine & Fabrication Inc. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altenburg. He held several leadership positions in the Lions Club, and was a proud member of Saxony Lutheran High School Building Committee.
He was a 1957 graduate of Perryville High School, and a professional engineer graduate of the University of Missouri-Rolla.
Survivors include a daughter, Michelle (Neal) Franke of Altenburg; three sons, Mike (Mary Kay) Hecht, Greg (Julie) Hecht and Dan (Jennifer) Hecht of Jackson; a brother, Dale Hecht of Jackson; two sisters, Carol Henderson of St. Louis and Karen Woltemath of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, Allison, Taylor, Logan, Noah, Lauren, Jordan, Grant, Adam, Evan and Erin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and two brothers, Donald and Ronald Hecht.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Friday at Young and Sons East Perry Chapel.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Church, with the Rev. Jonathon Stites officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to Saxony Lutheran High School.
