CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Robert "Bob" Hagedorn, 82, of Chattanooga passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, Aug. 1, 2021, at his home.
He was born Feb. 23, 1939, to Elmer and Teresa Hagedorn in Cape Girardeau.
Bob graduated with a bachelor's degree in education from Southeast Missouri State University, where he excelled at both baseball and basketball. His passion for sports continued in coaching, but, ultimately, he elected to pursue a career in retail. It is there he met his first wife, Billye Palmer. They were married in 1968. They later moved to Chattanooga and welcomed a daughter, Polly Beth.
In 1985 Bob married Susan Baggett. He was self-employed, and he and Susan operated several retail businesses together. They welcomed a daughter, Leah, in 1988.
Bob's love for sports continued throughout his life. He loved to collect sports memorabilia and shared his passion for sports with friends and family.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Teresa Hagedorn.
He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Susan Hagedorn; daughters, Polly (Bill) Agee and Leah (Paul) Apyan; and grandsons, Cameron and Wade Apyan and Billye Palmer Whitaker.
Other survivors are his siblings, Richard (Doris) Hagedorn, Carol O'Hayon, Diane (Steve) Johnston and David Hagedorn, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Aug. 28 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Chattanooga. Burial will be in Cape Girardeau, alongside his parents.
Arrangements are being handled by Companion Funeral & Cremation Services of Cleveland, Tennessee.
