Robert Gore

Robert E. Gore, 70, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

He was born March 1, 1940, in Rossville, Ill., to Robert M. and Nellie Kennedy Gore. He and Kathleen Grondfeldt were married April 1, 1965, in Illinois.

Robert worked for Elliot Construction Co. 27 years before finishing his career with Martam Construction where he worked five years before retiring in 1999. He was a member of Local 96 of Illinois 32 years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Gore of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Margaret (Isaac) Serrano of Cape Girardeau, Rosemary Ann (Jim) Scherock of Tucson, Ariz.; four brothers, James Gore of Tucson, Tom (Yoko) Gore of Midway Park, N.C., John (Dee) Gore of Sturgis, Wis., Steve Gore; a sister, Dorris Long of Kelso, Mo.; a cousin, Carolyn (Frank) Schnur of Tucson; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and a sister.

There is no service. Burial will be at a later date.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
