Robert George Turner, son of the late Charles and Lillian Rogers Turner, was born in Detroit, Mich., on Dec. 11, 1927, and died at the Golden Living Center in Dexter on June 8, 2015, at the age of 87. He spent his early career of 20 years with the U. S. Navy where he was a Chief Petty Officer. He later worked in maintenance at a hospital in Illinois. Robert George Turner, son of the late Charles and Lillian Rogers Turner, was born in Detroit, Mich., on Dec. 11, 1927, and died at the Golden Living Center in Dexter on June 8, 2015, at the age of 87.

He spent his early career of 20 years with the U. S. Navy where he was a Chief Petty Officer. He later worked in maintenance at a hospital in Illinois. He moved to Dexter in 1989 and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

On March 10, 1956 he married to Betty Briscoe in Waukegan, Ill.

Surviving is his wife, Betty Turner of Dexter; one son and his wife, William "Bill" Turner and Judy of Dexter; one daughter, Sharon Lewis of Bloomfield; one daughter-in-law, Marleen Turner of Winthrop Harbor, Ill.; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Stephen Turner.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 11, 2015, after 11 a.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Graveside services will be Thursday June 11, 2015, at 1 p.m. at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield with Dr. Barry Winders of Dexter officiating. Interment will follow in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield with Watkins and Sons Funeral Service in charge of all arrangements.
