Retired lawyer and Missouri Appelate Court Judge Robert G. Brady, 72, of Kirkwood, died Monday, May 29, 1995, at his home. He was formerly of Cape Girardeau.

He was born Jan. 10, 1923, in Hillsboro, son of Raymond H. and Netta Shorey Brady. He married the former Therese Gorg.

Brady attended the University of Missouri, Southeast Missouri State University and Western Michigan University.

After serving with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, he received a law degree from the University of Missouri in 1948.

In 1950 he was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives on the Republican ticket, and served one term. He was elected judge of Cape Girardeau Court of Common Pleas in 1956.

Brady was appointed to the St. Louis Appeals Court, which later became the Missouri Court of Appeals at St. Louis, in 1959. At that time he was the youngest person ever appointed to that Missouri court.

He resigned from the bench in 1972 and was a partner with the law firm of Bryan Cave McPheeters and McRoberts until 1988. Brady recently was a consultant with the firm of Amelung Wulff and Willenbrock.

Brady was a member of Webster Groves Christian Church. He was a member of the University of Missouri Board of Curators from 1967-73.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Shannon Hodge of Shawnee Mission, Kan.; three sons, R. Grant and Sean Brady of Kirkwood, Kevin Brady of St. Charles; two sisters, Jean Dodds of Chula Vista, Calif., Patty McMillen of Corpus Christi, Texas, and six grandchildren.

Friends may call at Bopp Funeral Chapel in Kirkwood from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
