Robert E. Frenzel, 75, of Jackson died Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at his home, surrounded by his loving children.
He was born Jan. 24, 1931, in Chicago, son of Arnold and Sally Kanton Frenzel. He married Jean T. Flynn Nov. 3, 1951, in Chicago.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson. Frenzel served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953, during the Korean War.
Bob was a decorated 29-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, Star No. 9349. He was a member of FOP, the German American Police Association and a lifelong Chicago Cubs Fan.
Survivors include three sons, Robert (Jackie), Richard (Doreen), Raymond (Juliana); three daughters, Barbara (James) Dennehy, Christine Frenzel, and Teresa (Richard) Mommsen; a brother, Edd (Barb) Frenzel; two brothers-in-law, Jack (the late Jane) O'Hara, and James (Charlotte) Flynn; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was a fond uncle and cousin of many, and was a loyal and trusted friend of Maggie and Jiggs.
He was preceded in death by his devoted, loving wife, Jean, March 9, 1995; and his parents.
Friends may call today from 3 to 9 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Parish prayers will be at 7, immediately followed by the rosary led by Bishop Timon Knights of Columbus of Jackson.
The funeral will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Jackson. Monsignor Edward Eftink will officiate. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, with graveside military honors.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri or Southeast Hospice.
