Robert L. Edwards, 63, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at his home.
He was born Aug. 19, 1949, in Cape Girardeau to the late George Henry and Alma Davis Edwards.
Robert served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He was a CNA at the Lutheran Home and enjoyed baseball.
He is survived by a special friend, Rose DePree of Cape Girardeau; eight sons, Charrell (Kristine) DePree, Brandon DePree and Abdul Jabar Sides, all of Cape Girardeau, Robert Loren Edwards II of Belton, Texas, Corey Wilson of Springfield, Ill., Robert Criddle of Jefferson City, Mo., Robert Henry of St. Louis and George Henry of Jefferson City; three daughters, Krystal DePree of Cape Girardeau, Tisha Bailey of Scott City and Candice Nicole Edwards of Belton; a brother, Steve Edwards of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Rose White of Sikeston, Mo.; and 26 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Catherine Edwards and Mary Squires; and a brother, William Penny.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to time of service Friday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Benjamin Bird officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.
