Robert L. Dodson, 57, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, at his home.
He was born June 23, 1948, in Cape Girardeau, son of Dwight and Virginia Langston Dodson. Robert was our beloved father, grandpa, brother and uncle, and went to his heavenly Father Wednesday to rest.
He was the best loved Dad and friend in the world. Bob went to College High School and Southeast Missouri State University. He worked at Sabreliner 26 years, and was a loyal, loving employee. He was funny and happy all the time and never met a stranger.
He married Bettie Boshears in 1976 and had two daughters, Kimberly and Sarah Dodson. He later married Renae Gibbs.
Robert was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam and was shot down three times.
He is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Proffer and husband Andrew, Sarah Elizabeth Dodson; two grandchildren, Aaron Dodson and Cole Proffer, all of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Nancy Duschell; a niece, Heather Duschell; and a nephew, Marcus Duschell.
He will be sadly missed every day of the rest of our lives.
Visitation will be today from 4 to 8 p.m. at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. VFW Post 3838 will have a service at 7.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Scott Moon officiating.
