JONESBORO, Ill. -- Robert L. "Bob" Davie, 65, of Jonesboro died Monday, March 29, 2004, at his home, following an extended illness.

He was born Jan. 12, 1939, in Jonesboro, son of Winstead R. and Edith Graham Davie. He and Adalee McPherson were married July 21, 1962, in Springfield, Ill.

Davie was a 1957 graduate of Anna-Jonesboro Community High School. He received a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Carthage College in 1961, and a master's degree in education administration from Southeast Missouri State University in 1979.

His career in education spanned 35 years. He taught in Jacksonville, Fla., from 1961 to 1964. The remainder of years was spent at Shawnee Community Unit School District 84 in Wolf Lake, Ill. He taught in the junior/senior high school from 1964 to 1978, and then served as principal at Wolf Lake Elementary and Shawnee Elementary North at Grand Tower, Ill.

Davie was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Jonesboro, served on the church council and was a youth group leader. He also served on the Stinson Memorial Public Library District Board of Trustees, Wolf Lake Park Committee, and was active in numerous other community affairs.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sandra Schaefer and Lisa Livesay of Wolf Lake; a sister, Virginia Davis of Anna; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 5 to 8 p.m. today, and at Salem Lutheran Church Friday from noon until time of service.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. David Eidson officiating. Burial will be in Anna City Cemetery.
