Robert Byers

Robert Earl Byers, 79, of Chateau Girardeau died Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born March 5, 1925, in Columbia, Mo., son of Earl Dewey and Eula Ruth Buster Byers. He and Lola Shirleen "Shirl" Dossett were married June 12, 1948, in Lakewood, Ohio. She died June 18, 1998.

Mr. Byers was a mechanical engineer at Bailey Controls Co. in Wickliffe, Ohio, retiring June 1, 1984. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include two sons, Ron (Ellen) Byers of Soldiers Grove, Wis., Roger B. (Debra) Byers of Verona, Wis.; two grandchildren, Mark Byers and Julie Byers; and a great-grandchild, Kaitlyn Byers.

There is no visitation.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. The Rev. Paul Kabo Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
