JACKSON -- Robert Cooper Brock Jr., 76, of Jackson died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 1996, at his home.
He was born Jan. 27, 1920, in Benton, the son of Robert Cooper and Amelia Steimle Brock. He was married to Alma J. Brown on Nov. 3, 1945, in Nashville, Tenn., and she preceded him in death on May 14, 1992.
Brock had lived in Jackson since 1952, coming from Benton. He was managed of the Association Natural Gas Co. in Jackson for 32 years, retiring in 1986. He owned and operated Brock's Bar-B-Que and Catering service in Jackson for more than 35 years.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus in Jackson, a charter member of the Chaffee Elks, and a member of the Jackson Elks Lodge, American Legion Post 158 and V.F.W. Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include one son, Robert Cooper Brock III of Rogers, Ark.; two daughters, Pamela Friedrich of Jackson and Patricia Brock of St. Louis; two sisters, Catherine Henry of Bridgeton, N.Y., and Rebecca Dirnberger of Cape Girardeau; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at the Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson, where parish prayers will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Friday, an American Legion Honor Guard service at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and a Knights of Columbus service at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Church in Jackson with Msgr. Edward Eftink officiating. Burial will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
