ORAN, Mo. — Roger Abraham Bartolo Sr. of Oran passed away Thursday, Aug. 3, 2023, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Nov. 17, 1942, in Highland Park, Michigan, to the late Abraham and Earie Strobel Bartolo.

Roger was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Mildred L. Rampley, on March 13, 2011. From that marriage survives one son, Roger A. Bartolo Jr. of Indianapolis, and two nephews, whom they raised as their own, Chad Allen and Cori Allen of Florida. Also surviving is one sister, MaryAnn Remmel of Leesburg, Florida.

On Sept. 12, 2012, Roger married Darlene Reeves in Deltona, Florida. She survives of Marble Hill, Missouri. Two stepsons, Kevin Reeves of Marble Hill and Brian Reeves of Plymouth, Michigan, also survive.

One sister, Betty Williams of Clermont, Florida, also preceded him in death.

Roger served in the U.S. Army in the 1960s, stationed at Fort Skelly, Regensburg, Germany. He earned the Sharpshooter Badge on both rifle and pistol, and received the National Defense Service Medal.

After leaving the Army, Roger was employed by several municipalities as a policeman, deputy sheriff and later as a detective for Scott County, Missouri.

Roger and Millie then became owners of R & M Trucking in Benton, Missouri. They then relocated to Florida as owners of Norma Deal Trucking.

Roger retired back to Oran and lived there until his death. The special friends living at the Oran Senior Housing Complex have been nurturing angels over the last few years.

Graveside service will be held at a later date at George Cemetery in Stoddard County, Missouri.

Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapels is in charge of arrangements.
