Robert A. Andrews, 92, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at Chateau Girardeau. "The train has come to take you home."
He was born March 18, 1925, in Chaffee, Missouri, to Robert and Mabel Thompson Andrews. He married Rosemary Bagbey on Feb. 9, 1941. She preceded him in death Oct. 10, 2010.
Robert was an avid golfer throughout his entire life, and he loved to sing and dance. He was meticulous when it came to the upkeep of his home and yard. He was an engineer for Frisco Railroad, which later became Burlington Northern Santa Fe. The railroad was his job, but it was also his love.
He is survived by two daughters, Nancy Mattingly (Art) of Cape Girardeau and Bobbi Bender of Memphis, Tennessee; one son, Ty Andrews of Scott City; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren; as well as a special friend, Geneva Jackson of Anna, Illinois.
He was preceded in death his wife and parents.
The family of Robert Andrews will host a celebration to honor his life next spring.
