McCLURE, Ill. -- Robbin Christopher Franklin, 31, of McClure, formerly of Reno, Nevada, died at 9:10 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2019, in Thebes, Illinois.

He was born Dec. 28, 1987, in Carbondale, Illinois, to Robin Kim and Tracey Lynn Harrell Franklin.

Robbin served his country for eight years in U.S. Army, attaining the rank of specialist, during which time he did two tours of duty, one in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. He was a part of the 101st Airborne of Fort Campbell, Kentucky, the "Rakkasans" platoon.

He is survived by his parents, Robin and Tracey Franklin of McClure; sisters, Jessica (Shawn) Burgess and Nicki Franklin, both of Wyaconda, Missouri; brothers, George Roach and Dustin Franklin, both of McClure; aunt and uncles, Joyce Shed and Mark and Roy Franklin; and many other aunts and uncles, other relatives and friends.

Robbin was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John Douglas and Patricia Franklin; maternal grandparents, George and Elaine Harrell; and uncles, George "Buddy" Harrell, Wesley Harrell and Rusty Franklin.

Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Mound City (Illinois) National Cemetery, with Mark Cruse officiating and full military honors provided by the Illinois Honor Guard and American Legion Post 178. Inurnment will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice. Envelopes will be available at the cemetery.

Crain Funeral Home in Cairo, Illinois, is in charge of arrangements.
