MATTHEWS -- Funeral service for Robert Lee "R.L." Rodgers of Matthews will be held at 1 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Morehouse. The Rev. Don Heitman will officiate, with burial in Hobbs Chapel Cemetery near Puxico.
Rodgers, 93, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 1996, near Morehouse.
He was born Jan. 14, 1903, at Hornersville, son of Pitman Joe Monroe and Lidia Dalbie Rodgers. He and Janie Bryan were married May 8, 1975, at Morehouse.
Rodgers was a retired car dealer. He had lived at Matthews 11 years.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Eldon Rodgers of Portageville, L.G. Rodgers of Sikeston; two daughters, Della Arville and Kathryn Appleton of Sikeston; a stepdaughter, Abbie Ward of Sikeston; a stepson, Larry Bryan of Houston, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and two great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two daughters and three grandchildren.
