Rita M. Rubel, 70, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Perryville, Mo., died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at St. Anthony's Medical Center in St. Louis.
She was born Oct. 26, 1943, in Perry County, Mo., daughter of Glen J. and Rita E. Bach Favier. She and Darvin E. Rubel were married Aug. 4, 1962. He preceded her in death Aug. 23, 2010.
Rita had been a secretary and bookkeeper for Perryville Machine Shop. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and American Legion Auxiliary Post 133 in Perryville.
Survivors include two daughters, Tammy (Kent) Grayum of Festus, Mo., and Debbie (Donnie) Schlitt of Oran, Mo.; a son, Gary Rubel of Smithton, Ill.; four siblings, Shirley Blechle of Old Appleton, Jerry Favier and Jane Wright of Perryville and Glenda O'Farrell of Doe Run, Mo.; and four grandchildren, Tyler, Brooke and Blake Schlitt and Dylan Grayum.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother, Joe Favier.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Thursday at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Matthew Marks officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to the Arthritis Foundation.
