KELSO, Mo. -- Rita Marie Jansen, 92, of Kelso died Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at her home.
She was born April 16, 1927, in Benton, Missouri, to Lawrence and Clara LeGrand Klipfel. She married Herman Joseph Jansen on July 9, 1946, in Benton. He preceded her in death March 27, 1997.
Rita was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso, Ladies Sodality and Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary Council 6420 and was a lifelong quilter.
She is survived by three sons, Raymond (June) Jansen of Jefferson City, Missouri, Harold (Kathy) Jansen of Bucyrus, Kansas, and Bernard "B.J." (Doris) Jansen of Wappapello, Missouri; four daughters, Doris (Kevin Balsman) Dingerson and Janice (Dave) Meinert of St. Charles, Missouri, and Linda (Tim) Johnston and Mary (Jeff) Hency of Scott City; a brother, Lawrence "Curly" (Mary) Klipfel of Benton; a sister, Martha (Albert) Eftink of Chaffee, Missouri; 16 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren, with one due in August. Her children also gave her several bonus grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Josie Klipfel; a daughter, Marcella Mack; a grandson, Christopher Johnston; four brothers, Tony, Eddie, Vester and Joey Klipfel; and two sisters, Coletta McKinstry and Dorothy Mae Tucker.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m., followed by a K.C. service.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Revs. Michael Casteel and Normand Varone as concelebrants. Burial will be in St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery in Kelso.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Augustine Catholic Church or a charity of your choice.
