JACKSON, Mo. -- Rika Smith Mabrey, 94, of Jackson passed away Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at the Lutheran Home. She was born Feb. 23, 1907, in Jackson, daughter of the late Louis A. and Ida Blackman Loos. She and Bryan Smith were married Sept. 20, 1925. He passed away May 24, 1941. She then married John Mabrey June 28, 1952. He passed away Jan. 26, 1973...

JACKSON, Mo. -- Rika Smith Mabrey, 94, of Jackson passed away Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born Feb. 23, 1907, in Jackson, daughter of the late Louis A. and Ida Blackman Loos. She and Bryan Smith were married Sept. 20, 1925. He passed away May 24, 1941. She then married John Mabrey June 28, 1952. He passed away Jan. 26, 1973.

She had been in the Lutheran Home for nine years.

Mabrey was a lifelong member of the Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson. She was also a member of the quilters association of the church. She had worked at the former Roziers Clothing Store in Jackson, was a volunteer at the St. Francis Medical Center gift shop and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Jackson.

Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Shirley and Hirschel Statler of Jackson, and Bonnie Wilkening of Cape Girardeau; one son and daughter-in-law, R.B. and Judy Smith of Byron, Wyo.; two stepdaughters, June Hilpert of Cape Girardeau and Dorothy Shea of Little Rock, Ark.; one daughter-in-law, Bonnie Smith of Jackson; 15 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, two brothers, four sisters and a grandson.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. The Rev. Sam Roethemeyer will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson.
