Rick Roberts III

Alva Richard "Rick" Roberts III, 53, of Scott City died Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Jan. 19, 1957, in Advance, Mo., to Alva Richard and Betty Jane Adams Roberts Jr. He and Robin Deanne Eldridge were married Aug. 18, 1984, in Scott City.

Roberts was a self-employed carpenter.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Alva R. "Alvie" Roberts IV and Isariah Roberts of Scott City, Brannon Roberts of Benton, Mo.; a daughter, Nikki Roberts of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, John, David and Joe Roberts of Scott City; four sisters, Diane Luthy of Willisville, Ill., Jennenne Littlepage and Vicki Lynn of Scott City, Jane Bridwell of Benton; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to service time Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.

The service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Rennie Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Memorial Cemetery in Scott City.
