Rick Murphy, 70, a beloved Air Force veteran of Cape Girardeau, passed away on July 30, 2024. Known for his quiet demeanor and dry humor, he leaves behind his wife Patricia, a loving family, and a legacy of service.

Rick Murphy, 70, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at his home.

He was born Jan. 18, 1954, in Sacramento, California, to Hubert and Helen Clark Murphy. He and Patricia Jean Spencer were married on July 1, 2000, in Scott City.

Upon graduation, Rick enlisted in the United States Air Force serving honorably for 20 years and participating in both Dessert Shield and Storm as a technical sergeant/crew chief on A-10’s.

A very quiet man, Rick loved his family, his animals and wood working. He enjoyed helping anyone he could. His dry sense of humor was infectious. He was a faithful man who loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Rick is survived by his wife of 24 years, Patricia Murphy, and his loving family, Beverly (David) Mirgeaux of Kelso and Brian Shaffer, Nancy (Tom) Morris and Brenda (Bill) White, all of Cape Girardeau; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.

In addition, he is survived by a sister, Debbie (Joe) Pasiarb of Little Rock, Arkansas, and their sons, Phillip and Michael Pasiarb.

Rick was preceded by a sister, Pam Gore.

Services for Rick will be held Monday, Aug. 5, at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. The doors will open at 5 p.m., and a memorial service will start at 6 p.m., with the Rev. Shawn Wasson officiating. Full military honors will conclude the service.
