Richard T. Vogel, 86, of Saxony Village died Thursday, June 17, 2004, at his home.
He was born Oct. 28, 1917, at Pocahontas, son of Alfred and Ida Steiner Vogel. He and Betty Jane Foley were married Dec. 26, 1942, in Bend, Ore. She died in March 1970. He and JoAnn Mahaffey were married June 1, 1973.
Vogel grew up in Cape Girardeau. He was a 1940 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University and was an editor of the Sagamore yearbook.
He was a bookkeeper, office manager and controller in the construction industry 46 years in California.
The Vogels moved to Cape Girardeau in 1999 from Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Calif. He was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.
Vogel was in the U.S. Army Air Corps from April 1943 to December 1945, serving with the 13th Air Force in the South Pacific.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Rick, Steve and Barry Vogel; three stepchildren, Richard Mahaffey, Sara Black and Kim Soto; a brother, Leonard Vogel; a sister, Norma Sander; seven grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and seven stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home Sunday from 2 p.m. until service time.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mark Martin officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
