SIKESTON -- Richard Vaughan, 81, of Sikeston died Saturday, Jan. 13, 1996, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn.
He was born Sept. 29, 1914, at Sikeston to Green O. and Ethyl Joyce Vaughan. He married F. Aline Prouty on Feb. 24, 1936, at Jackson, Miss.
He had been an independent truck driver for the Foster and Matthews Grocery Co. and various other companies. He later owned and operated Vaughan's Bar-BBQ.
He was a veteran of the European Theater in World War II.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sikeston.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, Robert Richard Vaughan Jr. of Sikeston and Phillip C. Vaughan of Dallas; three sisters, Marie Fikuart and Mildred Lasater, both of Sikeston, and Virginia Forbis of St. Louis; eight grandsons; and four great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by a brother, three sisters and a son.
Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim D. Guffie officiating. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
