CARTERVILLE, Ill. -- Richard Spiller, 88, of Carterville died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, at his home.

He was born Feb. 4, 1917, in Union County, Ill., son of John Henry and Nora Lee Tiggs Spiller. He and Lorena Damron were married May 16, 1937, in Cobden, Ill.

Spiller was a carpenter.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Richard Spiller of Phoenix, Ariz., John Spiller of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; three daughters, Wanda Severs of Anna, Ill., Nancy Spiller of Carterville, Betty Swain of Seattle, Wash.; a borther, Paul Spiller of Rogers, Ariz.; two sisters, Gladys Scotton of Titusville, Pa., Rosalie Yates of Pearl, Miss.; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandhchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, a grandson, two brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Clifford Heil officiating. Burial will be in Cobden Cemetery.
