MATTHEWS, Mo. -- Richard Lee Smith, 53, of Matthews died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, at his home. He was born Aug. 30, 1946, in East Prairie, Mo., son of Harry and Helen Myers Smith. MATTHEWS, Mo. -- Richard Lee Smith, 53, of Matthews died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, at his home.

He was born Aug. 30, 1946, in East Prairie, Mo., son of Harry and Helen Myers Smith. He and Belvee Woodard were married Nov. 22, 1966.

Smith was a farmer, and member of Parker Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church in Sikeston, Mo.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Richard and Charles Smith of Canalou, Mo.; a daughter, Brenda Mijares of Canalou; his father of Matthews; a brother, James Smith of East Prairie; three sisters, Darlene England and Sandra Bard of East Prairie, Linda Skelton of Matthews; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Friends may call at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie after 5 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Maxey Shriver and Ronnie Lawson officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.
