SIKESTON, Mo. -- Richard N. Pender, 81, son of the late William and Edna Church Pender was born Feb. 26, 1940, in Texas County, Missouri, and departed this life Sunday, June 6, 2021, at the Hunter Acres Care Center in Sikeston.

Richard retired from Operating Engineers Local 513. On Dec. 24, 1970, he married Janet Thompson Hoots, and she survives of the home.

Also surviving are two sons, Van (Suzan) Pender of Sonora, California, and Richard Scott (Sharon) Pender of Cable, Ohio; daughter, Lori (Marcus) Rhodes of Denton, Texas; four sisters, Sally Gann of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; Geraldine Miller of Colombia, Missouri; Charlotte Cowell of Marble Hill, Missouri; and Saundra Stout of Imperial, Missouri; brother, Larry Pender of West Plains, Missouri; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a son, Chuck Hoots, and two brothers, Billy Joe and Douglas Pender.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Missouri Delta Hospice, Dylan Cooper, Chaplain Reavy and Amanda, Dorothy Harrington and Hunter Acres Caring Center.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, Missouri.

Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Ronnie Brown officiating. Burial will be at the Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee.
