Graveside service for Richard Vincent Parks of Cape Girardeau will be held at 11:30 a.m. today at Mounds National Cemetery in Mounds, Ill. The Rev. Zachary Strong will officiate.

Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel at Chaffee is in charge of arrangements.

Parks, 73, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at Heartland Care Rehab Center.

He was born Nov. 28, 1926, in East Alton, Ill., son of Charles and Ester Ramsey Parks. He and Brenda McGuffie were married in 1952. She died May 8, 1993.

Parks retired as a truck driver with Uregas Co. He coached and umpired softball games in the Scott County area more than 25 years.

He served in the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include two sons, Stephen Parks of Chino, Calif.; Jonathan Parks of Jackson; a daughter, Kimberly Schlosser of Chaffee; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
