Richard Henry Oehl, 84, of Friedheim passed away Friday, July 31, 2020, at his home. Born June 30, 1936, to Henry and Docilla Sauer Oehl on the family farm near Friedheim, he was one of five children. He also lived and died on the family farm. Richard Henry Oehl, 84, of Friedheim passed away Friday, July 31, 2020, at his home.

Born June 30, 1936, to Henry and Docilla Sauer Oehl on the family farm near Friedheim, he was one of five children. He also lived and died on the family farm. He was a lifelong active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim, also the church of his baptism and confirmation. He and June Kurre were married June 30, 1956 at the church. Through the years, Richard held various church offices and played on the dartball and softball teams.

Richard was a lifelong farmer, served as a 4-H leader for Arnsberg 4-H Club, and was a 4-H superintendent at the SEMO District Fair. He was a founding member of the North Cape County Volunteer Fire Department, serving as chief for 40 years. He also served in other various positions for the Cape Girardeau County Firefighters Association.

Loving survivors include his wife of 64 years, June Oehl; son, Rodney (Pam) Oehl and their son, Dustin; son, Ronald (Candi) Oehl and children, Dakota, Michaela (Drew Kiefer) and Katelyn (Spencer Schuessler); son-in-law, Mike (Connie) Ward and children Justin and Hailey, all of Friedheim; and two sisters-in-law, Jackie Kurre of Friedheim and Joan (Lloyd) Ford of Anderson, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Ann Ward; a grandson, Joshua Oehl; his parents, Henry and Docilla Oehl; four siblings, Marlen (Lorene) Oehl, Howard (Dorothy) Oehl, Gertrude (Adolph) Rhode and Wilma (William) Bogenpohl; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alonzo and Elsie Kurre; and a brother-in-law, Bill Kurre.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. to service time Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Roger Steinbrueck officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Dakota, Dustin, John and Doyle Oehl, Justin Ward and Gary Bogenpohl.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Trinity Lutheran Renovation Fund (Friedheim) or Living Hope of Trinity Lutheran Church, Cape Girardeau.
