Richard E. "Dick" Miller, 66, of Jackson died Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. He was born Aug. 29, 1937, in Bushnell, Ill., son of Russell Max and Mable Lucille Sanders Miller. He and Mary F. Foote were married April 5, 1992, in Cape Girardeau...

Richard E. "Dick" Miller, 66, of Jackson died Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born Aug. 29, 1937, in Bushnell, Ill., son of Russell Max and Mable Lucille Sanders Miller. He and Mary F. Foote were married April 5, 1992, in Cape Girardeau.

He loved golf. Dick played The Old Course in Scotland, Pinehurst, and Pebble Beach.

Mr. Miller owned and operated Miller Barber and Beauty Supply Co. from 1973 to 1990, which is now operated by son Steve Miller and Rick Naeger.

He moved to Cape Girardeau in 1972 from Dexter, Mo. He graduated from barber college in Denver, Colo., and operated Dick's Barber Shop 12 years at Dexter.

Mr. Miller was a member of Kimbeland Country Club 30 years, where he was a board member and currently a member of SEMO Senior Golf Association. He was a former city councilman in Dexter, actively involved in Little League and Connie Mack baseball in Dexter, and was a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steven R. (Vicki) Miller of Jackson, Thomas A. Miller of Gulf Shores, Ala.; a daughter, Cathy (John) Dirnberger of St. Charles, Mo.; his mother of Cape Girardeau; two stepsons, Aaron (Sarah) Foote of Scott City, Andy Foote of Jacksonville, N.C.; four grandsons, Tyler, Nick and Adam Dirnberger of St. Charles, Kyle Miller of Lenexa, Kan.; five granddaughters, Kelcie Miller of Lenexa, Kyleigh Walters of Jackson, Casie Miller of Gulf Shores, Ellie and Mia Foote of Scott City; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wallace and Ione Knight of Cape Girardeau.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Dr. Clayton Smith officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Memorials may be made to Southeast Missouri Hospital Foundation or American Heart Association.
