Richard Krueger

Richard A. Krueger, 66, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born Dec. 9, 1942, in St. Louis, son of Allen Martin and Frieda C. Meyers Krueger. He and Patricia Heiken were married April 21, 1972, in Monroe County, Ill.

Richard was a federal government employee 15 years in St. Louis. He then worked at Procter & Gamble 20 years. He retired in 1998. Richard had also been a bivocational pastor, having served Allenville Baptist Church four years.

He was active in local and associational Baptist work. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher and Bible study leader.

Richard was a luthier, that is, a builder of musical instruments. He was also a collector of stuff.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Krueger of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Laura (Joe) James of Jackson; a son, Richard (Carol) Krueger Jr. of Maryland Heights, Mo.; a stepson, William Michael Colegate of Cape Girardeau: a stepdaughter, Dawn Hobbs of Chaffee, Mo.; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Shawn Wasson, Donny Ford and Phil Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Music Ministry at Bethany Baptist Church.
