Richard Geringer

Richard Joseph Geringer, 70, of Cape Girardeau went to Heaven Thursday, Jan. 24, 2019, at his home, with his wife and daughter at his side.

He was born Nov. 7, 1948, in Cape Girardeau to Rupert Lorenz and Marie Francis Roloff Geringer.

He was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau. He worked as a carpenter for Southeast Missouri State University for 30 years.

Richard's last act of kindness was donating his body to Saint Louis University for research purposes.

Loving survivors include his wife of 49 years, Patricia Reitzel Geringer of Cape Girardeau; daughter, Lara Penn; grandson, Rourke Penn; granddaughter, Savannah Penn; sister, Joan (Jim) Dohogne; and brother, Ken Geringer.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Feb. 9 at St. Vincent's Catholic Church.

Memorial Mass will follow at 11 a.m. Feb. 9 at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri, 424 E. Monastery St., Springfield, MO 65807.
