Richard Davis

Richard D. Davis, 56, of Wichita Falls, Texas, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, in Wichita Falls.

He was born Aug. 9, 1946, in Cape Girardeau, son of Gilbert and Juanita Whittaker Davis. He and Mary Helen Garcia were married April 26, 1969, in Wichita Falls.

Davis was a civil service employee at Sheppard Air Force Base 17 years.

He served in the U.S. Air Force and received numerous medals and awards, including the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Richard Davis of Sullivan, Mo., Joe Davis of Abilene, Texas, Raymond and Gilbert Davis of Wichita Falls; two brothers, Rodney Davis of Minnesota, Bobby Burger of Benton, Mo.; and a sister, Linda Davis of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home in Wichita Falls. The Rev. Simon Flores will officiate. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park with full military honors.
