BELL CITY, Mo. -- Richard Gilbert Cockrell, 69, of Bell City passed away Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, at his home.
He was born April 21, 1948, at Caruthersville, Missouri, the son of John and Wilma Whetly Cockrell.
Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from General Motors in August 1998 after 31 1/2 years.
He was of the Pentecostal faith.
Richard and Clara Tillman were united in marriage Jan. 31, 1969, at Blodgett, Missouri, and she survives of the home.
Survivors include his wife, Clara Cockrell; a daughter, Stephanie Holt of Bloomfield, Missouri; three brothers, David Cockrell of Puxico, Missouri, Carl Cockrell of Advance, Missouri, and Robert Cockrell of Glenallen, Missouri; three sisters, Johnnie Latham of Aquila, Missouri, Betty Gardner of Dexter, Missouri, and Wanda Cochran of Aquila; three grandchildren, Emily Dobbs of Bell City, Kaiden Curtis of Bell City and Allison Holt of Bloomfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Wilda Ramsey and Barbara Gardner.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Mike Lee officiating. Burial will follow at New Morley Cemetery in Morley, Missouri.
