CAIRO, Ill. -- Richmond C. Britton, 89, of Cairo, Ill., died Friday, July 23, 1999, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion. He was born April 5, 1910, in Pulaski County, son of Richmons Lee and Esther Thornton Britton. He was a member of Tigert Memorial United Methodist Church in Cairo and a World War II veteran. He also held memberships in Cairo Elks Lodge #651, Cairo VFW, K.I.M. Shrine Club, Ainad Shrine Temple and Cairo Masonic Lodge #237...

CAIRO, Ill. -- Richmond C. Britton, 89, of Cairo, Ill., died Friday, July 23, 1999, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion.

He was born April 5, 1910, in Pulaski County, son of Richmons Lee and Esther Thornton Britton.

He was a member of Tigert Memorial United Methodist Church in Cairo and a World War II veteran. He also held memberships in Cairo Elks Lodge #651, Cairo VFW, K.I.M. Shrine Club, Ainad Shrine Temple and Cairo Masonic Lodge #237.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine of the home, a daughter, Candace Britton Taylor of Plantation, Fla.; a brother, Walter W. Britton of Hot Springs, Ark.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters.

Visitation will be held Monday from 10-11 a.m. at Tigert Memorial United Methodist Church.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Kelly Cox officiating. Burial will be at Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge.

Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo is in charge of arrangements.
