THE VILLAGES, Fla. -- Richard T. Brown of The Villages, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2019, at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Jan. 13, 1946, to Thomas Brown and Samolene Fasse in Oak Park, Illinois, but grew up in Elsberry, Missouri.
He and Michelle Favier were married May 4, 2001, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Rick went to barber college in Cape Girardeau and cut hair until he went to work for Bobcat Concrete. Then he got the passion for sales and decided to sell cars for Dean Taylor Cadillac for 20 years, before ending his professional career with owning his own franchise with the American Poolplayers Association (APA Pool Leagues) for 25 years. He owned territories in Southeast Missouri, Southern Illinois and Northern Arkansas. Rick really enjoyed being a league operator with the APA, because he played pool almost his entire life.
He was very proud of what he accomplished and all the friendships he made all throughout the areas over the years.
Rick enjoyed many things in life: playing pool and darts, bowling, hunting, fishing and singing lots of Karaoke, with his favorite being "My Way." That song truly fit him! But most of all, he really enjoyed playing golf and spending time with friends and family.
Survivors include his wife, Michelle "Micki" Brown of The Villages; son, Shannon (Nikki) Brown of Rockwall, Texas; daughter Brandi (Matt) Bass of Jackson; eight grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a brother, Keith (Terri) Moudy of Innsbrook, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sharon Eakins.
There will be a celebration of life at 2 p.m. Nov. 30 at Fraternal Order of Eagles, 321 N. Spring St., Cape Girardeau.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to National Kidney Foundation in memory of Richard Thomas Brown.
