Richard H. Bowers, 94, of Burfordville died Thursday, May 27, 2004, at Monticello House in Jackson.
He was born June 12, 1909, in Oriole, Mo., son of Henry W. and Freida Whittaker Bowers.
Bowers was employed by the former C.J. Reisenbichler Lumber Co. in Cape Girardeau, and 25 years at the former Leming Lumber Co. in Cape Girardeau as a machinist and finish carpenter, retiring in 1974. He was also engaged in farming at Burfordville.
He is survived by a son, Richard Eugene Bowers and wife Barbara of Arnold, Mo.; a daughter, Wanda Lou Wilfong and husband Lester of Burfordville; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two wives, Ada Inez Jones Bowers and Lillian Beatrice Sides Bowers; a son, Ronald Ray Bowers; a daughter, Ruth Nitsch; five brothers; and two sisters.
Friends may call Saturday, June 5, from 9 to 11 a.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Morris Cobb officiating. Burial will be in Apple Creek Cemetery at Pocahontas.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Old Apple Creek Cemetery Association or the charity of choice.
