Richard H. Bowers, 94, of Burfordville died Thursday, May 27, 2004, at Monticello House in Jackson.

He was born June 12, 1909, at Oriole, Mo., son of Henry W. and Freida Whittaker Bowers. He married Ada Inez Jones, who preceded him in death. He also married Lillian Beatrice Sides, who preceded him in death.

Bowers was a machinist and finish carpenter with the former C.J. Reisenbichler Lumber Co., and also 25 years with the former Leming Lumber Co., both in Cape Girardeau. He retired in 1974. He had also farmed at Burfordville.

Survivors include a son, Richard Bowers of Arnold, Mo.; a daughter, Wanda Wilfong of Burfordville; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, five brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Morris Cobb officiating. Burial will be in Apple Creek Cemetery at Pocahontas.
