Richard Wayne Bess, 67, of Cape Girardeau passed away Sunday, May 24, 2020, at Landmark Hospital.
He was born May 24, 1953, in Advance, Missouri, the son of Virgil Milton and Lillie Belle Ratledge Bess.
Richard had been a shop foreman for several dealerships in Cape Girardeau. Up until his retirement, he worked as a Matco Tool dealer in Advance, Poplar Bluff to Kennett, Missouri.
Richard believed in the Baptist faith.
Richard and Linda Kay Abbott were united in marriage June 30, 1973, at Fairview Church near Advance.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Bess of the home; a daughter, Clarissa Bess of Poplar Bluff; an adopted grandson, Isaiah Thomas of Poplar Bluff; two brothers, Lyndel (Bonnie) Bess of Omaha, Nebraska, and C.W. (Mary) Bess of Athens, Texas; and three sisters, Louise Hinkle of Wentzville, Missouri, Doris (John) Guzman of Advance and Carolyn (Don) Graves of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Darrel Bess, and a sister, Wilma Jean Ezell.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Dexter Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri.
