PERRYVILLE -- The Rev. Thomas J. Murphy, 88, of Perryville, died Thursday, May 7, 1992, at St. Mary's Seminary. He was born Sept. 13, 1903, in Chicago, son of Thomas Joseph and Delia Veronica Murphy. Murphy was a Vincentian priest, retiring in 1978. He moved to Perryville in 1989. PERRYVILLE -- The Rev. Thomas J. Murphy, 88, of Perryville, died Thursday, May 7, 1992, at St. Mary's Seminary.

He was born Sept. 13, 1903, in Chicago, son of Thomas Joseph and Delia Veronica Murphy.

Murphy was a Vincentian priest, retiring in 1978. He moved to Perryville in 1989. He did hospital work in Sherman and Dallas, Texas, and did pastoral work in LaSalle, Ill.; New Orleans, La.; St. Vincent's in Cape Girardeau; Cotulla, Texas, and Chicago.

Survivors include a brother, William Murphy of Chicago, and a sister, Catherine Murphy of San Diego, Calif.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's of the Barren Church, with burial in Vincentian Community Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church from 5-9 p.m. today, and from 8 a.m. until service time Monday. A wake will be held tonight at 7:30.

Young and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
